How To Get A Repair Started With Us

At Southeast Guitar Repair, we operate differently than a typical music store repair counter.

We are a dedicated repair facility focused on expert craftsmanship, precision work, and long-term instrument care. Our reputation has been built on quality, consistency, and attention to detail, not rushing instruments through the shop.

If you value excellent repair work and honest communication, you are in the right place.

No Appointment Needed

Whether you only need a quote or you are ready to get a repair started, you never need an appointment.

Simply come by anytime during our normal business hours.

Our luthiers are always here during business hours to assess your instrument, discuss what is going on, and provide professional recommendations for repairs or maintenance.

We will provide:

  • Recommended repairs
  • Pricing estimates
  • Estimated turnaround times

At that point, you can decide whether you would like to move forward with some, all, or none of the repairs.

There is never a charge for us to assess what is going on with your guitar.

How Our Repair Queue Works

Once your instrument is checked in, it enters our repair line on a first come, first served basis.

We do not rush standard repairs. Quality repair work takes time, and our level of repair excellence requires care, precision, and proper attention to detail.

Turnaround times are estimates, not guarantees.

While we do our best to remain within estimated timelines, some repairs may require additional time depending on the condition of the instrument, hidden structural issues, parts availability, or environmental recovery needs.

Humidity & Neglected Instruments

Many guitars arrive to us severely dehydrated or improperly stored.

Instruments suffering from humidity issues often require stabilization and humidification therapy before repair work can safely begin.

This recovery process is critical to protecting the instrument and ensuring long-term repair stability. Rushing this process can create additional damage or poor repair results later.

Because of this, some guitars may remain with us longer than originally estimated.

Communication During Repairs

Once your guitar is checked in, we focus heavily on bench time so our technicians can stay productive and keep repairs moving.

For this reason, we do not provide frequent status update calls during the repair process.

If you do not hear from us, that is typically a good sign that your repair is progressing normally and as expected.

If we need to discuss anything regarding your repair, we will absolutely contact you.

We kindly ask clients to understand that repeated status calls slow down workflow and take valuable time away from the repair bench.

Pickup Process

Once your repair is completed and ready for pickup, we will call you.

There is no need to schedule a pickup appointment.
You may come by anytime during business hours at your convenience.

Need Faster Service?

If you need your repair completed more quickly, we do offer an optional expedited repair service for an additional fee.

This allows your instrument to skip ahead in the repair queue.

Please understand this does not mean rushed work.
It simply means your repair receives scheduling priority.

Warranty Repairs

Warranty repairs operate differently than standard customer-paid repairs.

As an authorized warranty repair center, we work directly with manufacturers throughout the warranty process. This often includes:

  • Manufacturer approvals
  • Documentation requirements
  • Communication delays
  • Waiting on manufacturer-supplied parts

Because of this, warranty timelines are often outside of our control.

We are serving as the repair facility and intermediary to help complete the repair on the manufacturer’s behalf.

We kindly ask for patience and understanding during this process, especially when delays are related to manufacturer communication or parts availability.

The Clients We Work Best With

We work best with clients who:

  • Value expert craftsmanship
  • Understand quality work takes time
  • Respect professional recommendations
  • Properly care for their instruments
  • Appreciate honest communication

We reserve the right to decline service for individuals who are disrespectful, aggressive, or unreasonable toward our staff.

Our goal is to provide an exceptional repair experience for clients who truly value their instruments and the craft required to care for them.
